It's interesting how we say, "I can't wait for..." or "I'm so looking forward to..." with a gung-ho attitude and sense of relief. But when we refer to what's going on right Now, it's same ol' same ol'.
Our zest for Yet in relation to Now is mammoth because there isn't any build up to Now. There's nothing wow about Now because it's always immediately over with as soon as it happens, and we're in the same place we were a second ago.
Yet's are exciting because we think aaaah... is on the way. But when they arrive, our void still remains and we feel empty.
We focus on the next "thing" or "answer" in hope of fulfillment, without really taking in and getting jacked about what's here Now. If we look closer, we'll see our accomplishments, internal and external, which were once our desires. They get easily overlooked because they blend into the background over time. Consistently noticing them helps keep them fresh.
Going after Yet is a way to recreate excitement and give us something to aim for. It makes us feel driven. Continually improving and upgrading is growth, and that's vital. The key is in knowing our life is already complete before our Yet's arrive. When we drop into that contentment, we live in enthusiasm and appreciation, while understanding everything's cool - Now.
In Celebration,
Jimmy
